There are two yellow lights on the dash display when you go to start the engine. What does the one that looks like an engine block with a lightining bolt through it mean?

the one that you describe is the warning light for the engine management system, if it stays on when the engine is running that means that a primary engine management system has failed, vauxhall build in a secondary system which is called "limp home" this allow you to get the vehicle home if the fault happens when your out. You need to find a garage thats got either tech2 or an advanced code reader this will be plugged in to the vehicle and will identify which componenet is faulty
Your engine management has gone stit, try using a reset tool, if not off to the scrapyard for spare parts
