Ford Focus key-fob / central locking module problems?

Hi ppl,

I have a Ford Focus, and started having problems with the central locking a while back. A friend who works for the RAC tested the RF output of the fob , which is working fine, What I am after is the module or receiver unit in the car!! Does anyone know where it is! Obviously Ford don't want to part with this Info, and its not in any of the schematic diagrams?

I'd be eternally grateful for any help with this as Its driving me stupid!!

Many thanks in advance.

The Remote keyless entry system is integrated into the Generic Electronic module or GEM. This module is what receives the signal from the keyless transmitter. It is located behind the trim panel at the lower passenger side A-pillar, or for a better description. Under the glovebox, and to the right. There is a trim panel that goes from the the firewall to the opening at the door. Remove it and the GEM is behind the panel. The base part number from the Ford dealer for the module is 15K600. This module will need to be programmed to the vehicle if it is replaced, so it is not a repair you can perform yourself without a dealer. Plus, with the cost of a module running at 150 bucks or more, you may want to have it diagnosed by a professional first, to make sure that you really do need a module.

I hope this helps.
Yugie 29 is 100% correct, but there is also a fuse on the back of the fuse box on american focuses that burn from time to time causing weird issues including no remote door locks.

Me and Yugie are talking about the American version of the focus
The european version may be the same

It's a 15 amp fuse in the back of the interior fuse box.. takes removing the fuse box to find. If replacement of the fuse, and fuse blows again you will need the module that Yugie 29 talks about most likely
i think you'll find it behind the centre consul, generally close to the floor
