My car a Seat 1.2 3yrs oldthe engine keeps dying (stoping) when the car gets warm ori stop. Can you help?
i went to seat garage but they try to sell me a new car, so i am just trying to get a second opinion on what they have said.
Answers:
There is no need of buying a new car. This is not a big problem.Hopefully the engine is not that much damage as it sounds. There might be some problem in car's radiator;so go for new radiator or check this one with a good mechanic. After that go for car's service and your car will be fine.I think this will be fine with your car and no need of new one.
ya
i think u should repair ur car otherwise u may get stuck in a rural place where ppl do not noe how 2 rrepair cars..lol..jkg
Have them check your coil. I was having the same exact problem with my pickup and it was just a stupid $50 part.
sounds like the ecu ( electronic control unit ) has died. although it could be something else! best to leave it in and get looked at. have you gat a warrenty? think they cost about £6-£700 to replace!
The seat doesnt have a coil to check I am afraid, sounds like the car is running rich, ie too much petrol, maybe have the car serviced at SEAT and ask specifically for a diagnostic check
timing maybe.if therevs move up and down it could be this.if not maybe a service is needed ask them does it have a fuel filter .
head gasket causes overheating
hi
i had a problem with my mitsubushi on a long run and it turned out to be the spark plugs when they got hot the internal insulation went and the car kept stalling at lights and when i deselerated to a slow crawl it would cut out also check your battery connections is the car alternator chargeing , check spark leads try these simple things before changing expensive bits
Sounds like the coil pack - get new leads, coil, cap and arm along with new plugs.
Could also be a clogged up choke or carb, they are more open when the car is cold.
You would be better off though buying a new car - but dont buy another Seat.
A 3 year old car isn't even broken in yet. My car is 14 years old and still runs great!
Cars run differently when cold. For one thing, they require more fuel. You may have a problem with excessively high fuel pressure or (and more likely) a problem with the mass air flow sensor. If the mass air flow sensor gets contaminated with debris from the air, it will report the incorrect amount of air going into the engine and the computer will respond with the incorrect amount of fuel. If the engine is running too rich (too much fuel for the air present) the problem will be worse after the engine warms up. If you unplug the mass air flow sensor (located in the intake air snorkel) and the engine runs better, you might have a faulty sensor.
The best advise I can offer is to take the car to another garage, preferably one that does NOT sell cars.
check to see if your fuel line is passing too close to the exhaust manifold
Always start with the cheapest alternative first. I would start with the fuel filter. If this isn't it, then go to the O2 sensor. This will first start stalling at stop lights and signs, then as it get worse, it will happen more often. If that's not it, try the EGR valve.
You can actually have the O2 sensor and the EGR valve tested. I believe that Auto Zone will still do this for free.
Another option to consider, plug in a code reader and pull the codes.
