Answers:
9 hrs per day, increased to 10hrs(per day) twice a week,
Max 47hrs per week (9+9+9+10+10)
must have 11 hrs off work(rest) per day
45 min brake every 4 1/2 hrs
no more than 90 hours in a two week period!
Tacho's from previous week must be kept with you!
unless you use the van for trade (gain) you don't need to use it ..all the rules and regs are on the mot website

Under the new rules you must always keep used tachos for 15 days . They still need to be back in the hands of the operator within 21 days. So when you have 20 days tachos , you would hand in the first 5 days to the Operator/ Transport Manager. So you're always carrying the last 15 days worked.

Just wish to update some of the answers. Fat badge is basically right, but under the new rules, you are required to have a 30min break if your duty time is over 6hours. This is calculated from the time you start work and NOT the driving time, you must still take your 45min (or breaks totalling 45mins) if your hit the 4 1/2hour driving limit.The 30min break cannnot be taken at the start or end of the 6hours, but during it.
Might be worth checking out the "ROAD TRANSPORT(WORKING TIME) REGULATIONS 2005" that came into force 4th April 2005 - http://www.dft.gov.uk/stellent/groups/df.
A bit heavy going, but worth it to stop falling foul of another regulation to mess drivers up!
If still not sure and you work for a company, ask the transport manager, as they have a CPC to protect, so its in their interest to help you stay "the right side"

Jake159 has introduced the Working Time Directive, 6hour, 30min break regulation. However, it is only necessary to have a 15min break after 6hours work and another 15mins before completing 9hours work. Work is time spent driving and doing other work. It doesn't include POA's (Periods Of Availability).
