How long do you have to drive your car to recharge the battery properly after it's been jumpstarted?
Answers:
At least for half an hour, no stop starting, an dont use any electrical equipment if you can avoid doing so.
just give it a good blast on the motorway.. cleans all the crap out, and makes it run better.
It should recharge sufficient after about 1/2 an hour to be certain of starting the engine again. Do not run all the electronics in the car whilst you motor or it will be longer.
its a myth that it charges - the alternator only provides enough charge to meet running requirements, it doesnt actually charge the battery by any significant amount. only answer is to remove battery and charge properly
m12dbh has the correct answer.proper charging with a battery charge is the only way to fully charge a battery, give "m12dbh" your best answer vote and get your battery charged
You bring it to a parts store to have it charged unless you want to kill your alternator. The alternator is not made to re-charge the battery it's made to keep it charged.
point about jumpstarting . connect the leads and let the doner car put a bit of power into other battery BEFORE trying to start.
also do'nt disconect cars straight away, it puts to big a load on alternator
If it was completely flat it wont charge at all since alternators require field excitation before they will do anything. put on a battery charger first then it will charge
Half hour at 60kph will do the trick.
