How do I lay up my car for 3 months?
Answers:
Ideally it would be best if you have someone you can trust to warm the car up and drive it around, or three months it wont be a problem with oils and fluids etc all i would say is keep it jacked up and try if possible to keep the temp as constant as possible the clutch and the brakes are the real things that might seize up and need a gentle freeing off, alos a trickle charger would be handy but ensure the top of the batter between terminals is clean the current otherwise will surface discharge and flatten the battery
Cover it. That's about it really.
add fuel conditioner so your gas wont gum up and cover it
You should take out the gas, because it can mess up your filter on the gas pump when you get back, also make sure you park it somewhere on concrete to avoid your tires dry rotting
keep the damp out with a cover or in a garage
connect one of those low power battery chargers
solar one might be ok if not covered or in garage
dont worry about the fuel it lasts much longer than 3 months to be sure fill to the top as it is the air that turns it
add some additive to be sure
You can take it to a storage place and they can store it for you. The ususally have covered and uncovered parking. Also, tell your insurance agent aswell. You can change your policy while your gone and save $.
Have a great trip!
Car's are best kept working! So if you can get a friend or relative to just start it every couple of weeks. And just drive it around the block would help too!
TAKE THE KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION AND BRING THEM WITH YOU
empty all water from the radiator remove the battery leads from the battery cover over with a tarpaulin if not in a garage;you may have to recharge the battery be for putting it back on;
