maybe its for emissions , your catalyst converter is faulty . but i am not 100%
is your car a diesel ?? if so its your glow plug warm up light. nothing to worry about
Red is always a strong warning, orange would be an advisory. Check to see if you have a burned out bulb somewhere, like a headlight or brake light, based on the symbol.
yeah, I think it may mean that one of your lights is burned out.check it out..it'll be a lot cheaper to replace a burned bulb than a ticket for faulty equipment!!

must be a diesel engine ,when you turn the ignition on this orange warning light indicates the engine pre heat plugs are operating when the light goes out engine is ready to start.
COULD BE ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT, A COMMON FAULT IN ASTRA,S CORSA,S OMEGA,S. HAD SAME PROBLEM WITH 2 ASTRA,S, I JUST IGNORED THE SECOND ONE AS VAUXAUL CHARGED ME 50 POUND TO SWITCH THE 1ST ONE OFF AND IT COME BACK ON A MONTH LATER.
I agree sounds like engine management light.only a garage with diagnostics can tell you whats truly wrong.when the light is on it just means the computer chip runs on default settings and does not adjust for conditions.
i have a 52 astra sxi and have had a few probs with the engine mangement light but believe me go to a reputable local garage not a main dealer mine was solved by a decent local bloke coil pack failed vauxhaull said £200 total happened again three months later took it to local guy egr valve had blown this was the problem from the start , im sure so paid out for nowt to start .any way my car is like new now flys like a bird , but please dont ignore the light if you do it could cost you mega bucks my sister did ended up paying £480 quid to local guy for recon engine main dealer wanted a grand so get it checked soon i hope it wont cost too much
