95 Ford Escort. When engine warms up it misfires. Tried new coil, HT leads. Garage baffled, any ideas. Cheers?

Answers:
Escorts will build up sludge in the cylinder head, when the engine is cold metal will contract (loose engine). When the engine reaches operating temperature, parts will expand (tight engine). Try removing the valve cover and inspect the cams. You could have sticking valves.

Good Luck
i had a eclipse that had a intermident misfire for a long time, then i pushed all the spark plugs, one was loose. u could also check the spacing on your sparkplugs, if there not within specs, they will misfire
only thing I can think of would be to check your timing and your distributor and the wires going to your sparkplugs if its been a wile scents your last tune up you might benefit by giving it one new sparkplugs new cables maybe even a new distributor cap if its misfiring it should be a problem with one of these drop me a line after you get it figured out and let me know how it went
most likely plug wires.start the car after dark, open hood and look for sparks around the plug wires,if they spark, replace them
Never had a Ford Escort but have had this problem with other cars. Usually turned out to be one of the following:

1. Plug wire
2. Plug (either gap or bad plug)
3. Cracked distributor cap
4. Choke (didn't make sense to me but new one fixed it)
5. Carb (float or needle valves - if you have one)
6. EGR valve
7. Fuel Pump/fuel filter (Mine was usually Filter - be careful, sometimes there are 2)
8. (this is a strange one) Fuel line somehow was run too close to exhaust - heated up and caused 'vapor lock' in line (moved fuel line a couple inches and put Hi Temp/Fire Proof insulation around it)

Hope this helps - Good luck, finding cause can sometimes be frustrating as H**L.

PS: did have a 73 Mustang once with a 391C engine. Had a head crack and let water from cooling system into cylinder that caused a misfire. Probably very unlikely in your case.
sure sounds like plug wire/s but first check the coil wire look for cracks if can't see any swap out with another car or plug see what difference is. Happened to me years ago.
I.C.M. = Ignition Control Module. Hope I have been helpful.
sound to my like valve problem for my experience ford,s escort
like to do that
I had an Orion (remember them?) that did this. It was due to the automatic choke sticking on. I reckon that's your problem. You need to go to a mechanic, not a garage 'technician'.
if it only does it when warm then it is very likely that the cylinder head has a hair-line crack between the valves,
stick a second hand head on it and your problem will be gone!
(just make sure you get a good s/h head!)
