Can you rent a car in the Uk if you're 18?
Answers:
21 im afraid.
Nope you have to be 21.
i think it's 21 i'm afraid.. but phone a car hire company just to double check. their insurance premiums would be so high if they allow younger drivers to hire cars! it's silly really . you could be 18 driving for one year.. or 25 driving for 2 weeks!! it shouldn't be done on age..but driving experience! Phone them up though.. good luck x
It depends who you know. Big companies will only hire out to 21 and over. And you have to be 23 to get a quarter decent car. I'm 22 and drive a 1.4 Astra with a clean licence. I checked on the net and I couldn't even get a small 1.4 or 1.2 for that matter. I don't know if they'd let me if I went and asked personally. However my brothers mate put me in touch with a small independent car hire company who gave me a 1.6 C4 no questions asked. He was OK to have my brother as an additional driver too (my bro is 18). I also know that he hires prestige cars to some of his closest acquaintances who are as young as 18. So if your looking at a big company like enterprise, hertz national or europcar they might say no. but go personally to sort something. but I still think they'll say no because of your age and experience. But try and find a small independent company, ask friends and family and acquaintances and you might get lucky like I did. but you need to try and get a good deal from them as well. I managed to get the contract changed to unlimited millage. and just go over the little things to make sure you get something decent out of it too as the smaller companies will most definitely have different T's and C's to larger companies.
Good Luck.
