Mini cooper S: whats so good about it?

Hi

I am about to buy a new car and currently debating between a Toyota Yaris T3 and a VW golf. I do love the look and shape to the mini cooper S however what i wanted to know is apart from the body. whats so good about it?

Also it's much roomier inside than it looks, which is a big advantage when you have tall family members! Or take road trips with your 2 german shepherds and 1 siberian husky.
yea me too
Some models had twin fuel tanks!!
well, i know that cooper is part of the bmw line, so my feeling is you'll get good service there.
The Mini hugs the road like you wouldn;t believe. A true joy to drive.
it's a BMW, basically.
But you should go for the Yaris because you'll get better gas mileage.
I think it's made on a BMW chassis. It has a tight turn radius, but the ride is stiff.

I vote for the yaris!
i like the new mini`s but would be too small for me with 3 kids it hasnt got much of a roomy boot to put things in
honestly.don't spend so much money, get a scion tc =) they are the best..look into them. Scion is an offshoot of toyota by the way, so you still get the quality parts and service
I have found that It Is cheaper then the other cars and I like the way It looks and It Is fast ,A van??????AH
It's a tarts' and hairdressers' fashion-statement car.
It is economically great for gas, but too small for me,but all depends on the person who wants comfort or leg room.
It's supercharged so makes a whistling sound, and has good power output for the engine size, but test drive a Golf GTI, turbocharged model, and I think you'll like the golf better.
is it make at bmw
Its German made..what more do you need to know?
The mormal Mini One/Coopers are said to hug the road brilliantly. The Cooper S has that, but with a supercharger thrown in for about 160BHP, and you can hear the pleasant whine of it too.

Cosmetically, the 'S' can be distinguished by a bonnet vent.
nothing much a lot of money for so little

Good luck with your search.
The new MINI Cooper S--unlike the base model--has an engine that's sourced from BMW. They are practical, solid little cars with a great amount of power, quick handling, and tons of durability.

They are also rated higher, safety-wise, than either the Yaris or the VW. They have a greater amount of safety features (including four more airbags than the Toyota or the VW have). I also hear they get close to 35 miles per gallon--something not a lot of cars can claim.

Besides the screaming performance, they are easy to insure, easy to park, cute as heck and one hell of a lot of fun to drive. And did I mention a depreciation rate much slower than that of the Yaris and the Golf? In five years, a Cooper S will be worth three times the money of the Yaris--and twice the value of the VW.

What's not to love?
Bracken should get the best answer, since she is absolutely right. I have a Mini Cooper S convertible and adore it. I used to drive a VW GTI, so I know about handling and power -- trust me, the Mini outdoes the VW everytime. The roominess of the car cannot be beat. I bought a 55 lb bag of dog food, 2 20 lb bags of cat food, and 3 40 lb cat litter containers and loaded them into the car with my 2 bookbags (each bag was stuffed to the gills, I might add) and a 24 pack of water . and still had plenty of room leftover to have my nephew jump in the backseat.

The car is fun to drive. I commute too much, so for me, what I drive is very important. I want a car I LIKE to drive, opposed to being stuck in one I'm not crazy about. The Mini has won this one hands down, without trying. I can't recommend it enough.
Its good quality the manufacturers do not make a lot on this vehicle
One of my friends drives the Cooper S (2004) with a lot of options and so far, after 35000mls, she s been to the garage 12 times. mostly because of big trouble: the clutch had to be replaced, probs with the steering (servo failure on the motorway), belts weren t fixed correctly and had to be replaced, brakes had to be replaced (after 10 000mls!), seats make strange noises, satellite navigation doesn t work properly when it s wet and cold . to be continued.
Another friend has the Cooper and his list nearly is as long as hers. Furthermore, the whole car seems to be of poor quality, especially the interior. and then, both engines consume far too much!
Btw, the Mini soon will be replaced!
So take the Golf, I ve driven it a couple of times now and you simply feel that it s well made and well engineered- I think you won t regret that choice.
I'm not sure about this but I think the Mini is only distributed by BMW in the States. Its made in England somewhere.
