k&n probobly makes the best one and they are easy to change they come drop in ready all you have to do is take the old filter out and put the k&n one in, there are other brands you can get, there are some from jegs and from summit
honestly unless you got a lot of other mods i dont think the real expensive k and n air filter is worth it. unless you get the whole cold air intake for about 300 bucks. just get a regular air filter and save 50 bucks! and yes they are easy to put in, find the right one for your car, the guys at the shop can help you get it, and it just fits right in its spot.
If someone makes a performance air intake for your car, that will add a few horsepower by allowing air to flow better and eliminating any turbulence caused by the stock air box, etc. Will be more noise when you accelerate hard. Don't do it if having a quiet car is important to you. The intakes are generally not too hard to install. The big brands like K&N include very good step-by-step instructions.
You can just get a performance filter that will easily replace the stock one. Could even have the techs drop it in during your next oil change if you don't know where it goes. They have to remove and inspect it anyway. Won't see much difference in performance at all just by changing the filter though. Maybe a little. They do last a LONG time and only require cleaning after MANY miles. so it's not really throwing your money away.
Just run a yahoo search for "model name of your car" and the words "performance air filter" or "performance air intake".
any good air filter will do as long as you change them regularly. i change mine at every other oil change. there are no easy to fit air filters. all vehicles are made for a particular air filter. the way your air filter housing is made and where it is located will determine if it is easy to put in or not.
Get a K&N high-flow panel filter as a direct replacement for your normal one. - about £35. (May add 3 to 5 bhp)
You could fit a mickey-mouse induction kit for about £30, but it's won't improve performance by any noticable amount (2 or 3 bhp) and may actually REDUCE power (as it's drawing in warm air - not dense cold air) or spend £300+ on a proper induction kit and get maybe 10bhp extra.
All easy to fit.
Only way to get big power gains is a bigger engine, turbos & NOS.
I recommend the K&N filter.but read the instructions closely.some applications require a rubber gasket be applied to the air box..IE.. TransAm Ram Air Package.. the gasket comes with the filter..
