What to do if caravan snakes when being towed?
Answers:
Take your foot of the throttle and DON'T HIT THE BRAKE'S. keep going in a straight line and when the caravan stops snaking slowly speed up to the roads speed limit.
Buy a stabiliser bar.
Also make sure the caravan is evenly balanced. i.e. Not heavy on the front end and not heavy on the rear end. Try placing any weight on the Axel area.
Get in touch with Samuel L. Jackson, he's good with snakes and transport.
slow down!
There are stabiliser mechanisms you can buy to make your tow-bar connection more rigid and the caravan steadier.
Check out your local caravanning shop for options.
Try fitting a stabiliser bar, also make sure the weight of equipment inside the caravan is evenly distributed, could be too much weight at front or back, i trust the caravan is not too big for the car, good luck
If possible, speed up a little bit. I used to tow a horse trailer, and that's what I used to do. One of the causes of it is big lorries overtaking you.
You have to get more weight to the front of the trailer. More tongue weight means less snaking,
Slow down.
brake slowly.
is your caravan drawn by horse?
slow down a little bit.
slow down and pull into the nearest rest place to have a cuppa and calm down
well if U saw top gear then U would put Ur foot down, but U don't.
U slowly ease Ur foot off the accelerator, don't use the brake, just let it all slow down by itself
i know this due to personal experience of towing a caravan and experiencing a snake, the person driving accelerated and the caravan ended rolling down an embankment and the car was almost flipped over
take your foot off the accelerator, DO NOT BRAKE NOR TRY TO SPEED UP. Both will probably result in a crash. Let the outfit slow down gradually. The cause of a snake can be many things, its usually excessive speed combined with a badly loaded or balanced caravan or trailer. Stabiliser's can help, but wont perform miracles ! The "Top Gear" presenters should be locked up,,,they are too stupid to be let out on the roads !
it depends on there weight and single axle ones seem to be the worst being slap side it make them settable to cross winds and people driving faster then a caravan is meant to be towed at.
Just pray
