Anyone know how to convert a calor gas bottle into a wood burner?
Answers:
this is how i did it.
An empty calour gas bottle is used as the body of the fire, with holes cut in for the loading door, ash pan & chimney. I found it impossible to unscrew the valve, so I gouged out the seals & left it for ages, before filling it with water.
I then marked out a circle in the top, 3" diameter, centre-punched it &, using loads of oil & a 3mm drill at slow speed, drilled around. Slowly, I increased the diameter of the drill, still slow & plenty of oil, until I could tap out the ring complete with valve. It was then emptied & re-filled with water & left for two days. You have to have a few nerves doing this, but then, I used to weld petrol tanks, & to do that, I removed the tap & cap & thrust a welding torch in. Woosh, then it could be welded.
No, can't help you, but brilliant idea - I'll give it a try.
This is a potty idea on two accounts.
Purging it sufficiently to avoid an explosion before cutting it will be a nightmare, and who wants a Carbon Monoxide producer in a camper van? or at all for that matter we have enough of those already! LOL
yea open the tap light match then runnnn
With a great deal of care I should think ! ! !
