Do car insurers automatically HPi Check a used car before insuring it?

Or should I get one done myself?

Answers:
no they don't. yes you should do it if the cars worth it. it only costs about £25
No. thats up to you to do that.
No, never. It's not their problem.
They do, but they only check the vehicle details not for any outstanding finance, insurance write off, colour change etc. and they dont tell you the results, so you will need to get it done yourself.
if you look in the auto trader they have a system where you text in the cars details and then they relay back to you the information held on the car from records, then you can see if it matches up etc. I think it costs about £5.00.I dont have the number but saw the ad sometime ago and thought it a great idea.
