What do the AA and the RAC do for motorists, nothing ! they certainly don't represent us?

The AA wanted £72 for my years coverage.
Plus they wanted £110 everytime i went to Europe, told them where to go, and joined ADAC(which the AA happens to be part of) for only 99euros for both me and my wife, with full European and American cover.
mostly rescue services nothing much else. but hey if they were political either we would get a more fair tax system or they would be all talk and get nothing done
The AA and RAC are commercial organisations that provide breakdown repair and recovery services for their paid members, as well as other commercial services such as insurance, driving schools, vehicle checks, etc.
The AA Motoring Trust (http://www.aatrust.com/ ) is a lobby group funded by the AA to lobby Government, the press, etc. on issues affecting motorists, with an emphasis on safety issues. The RAC also lobbies on behalf of its members, and again primarily on safety issues.
If you feel the need for representation, you could become a member of another organisation such as the Association of British Motorists (http://www.abd.org.uk/ ), or even Motorists Against Detection (officially known as MAD, and difficult to track down) depending on what issues concern you.
If you are not a member of any of these organisations, then you have no right to expect them to represent you.
Similarly, if you are a member but your views are at odds with the majority of members, you cannot expect the organisation to represent your views rather than those of the majority and should consider finding an organisation that better represents your views.
