Warming up a fuel injection car?
Answers:
Your warming a car has little to do with Fuel Injection.
You warm it up so the oil & coolant ciculates.
The engine block & catalytic converter warms up making the engine run smoothly. Also, EFI cars tend to use more fuel till the engine warms up.
Modern cars dont need warming up, the only time its worth doing is if the temperature is below zero.
Only if it's cold and you want the interior to be warm before you put your hands on that cold steering wheel.Seriously though,if it is extremely cold out,say below 0,it is more important to put your trans. in neutral at idle for a couple of minutes to warm it's fluid befor you put it in gear.Saves wear on the bands and clutch packs in an automatic.
No that is just wasting gas, just give the engine a minute to run, to allow the oil to flow.
A BIG NO, JUST START AND GO. IT IS GOOD FOR THE ENGINE BUT DO NOT REV IT LET IT WARM UP AS YOU GO. EVRY 3000
MILES PUT SOME INJECTOR CLEANER IN THE PETROL ITS GOOD FOR POWER AND FUEL USAGE.
Only long enough to circulate oil completely. A good rule of thumb is the length of time it takes a cigarette lighter to pop up after depressed.
JUST DRIVE IT MATE AND DONT THRASH IT WHEN COLD
As some of the above answers have stated, modern cars do not need to be warmed up. It is perfectly ok to just turn the key and go. However to avoid excessive wear on the engine components (e.g. bearings etc) do not rev the nuts off it until your temp gauage reads normal. !
