How do you put a total loss back on the road?
p.s, it was a cat D write off for uneconomical repair, nothing dangerous.
Answers:
Buy it from your insurance comany for one dollar. If you do have the salvage rights call
your Motor Vehicle Department and ask them. You may have to change the auto insurance
company.
You need to make the repairs and inform the DVLA. They may require an inspection - or possibly just an MOT. You also need to inform your insurer.
as it was only written off because the insurance company deemed it uneconomical for their registered repairers to fix and you state that you have retained the salvage rights then all you need to do is to check with the insurance company whether they will re-insure the car if you get the car repaired and what is their requirement as to the checks that will be needed after the car has been repaired, will an M.O.T. be sufficient proof for them or will they want the car inspected by an outside agency.
once you have this information you can then decide which course of action you are going to take, repair the car or break it for spares.
If as your damage description states the damage is only slight then you may well be able to get the car repaired and an M.O.T. will suffice but you must check this out first.
once this has been done then you are back in business
