Why are seatbelts black??

I've seen gray seatbelts more often than black ones.
Seat belts come in whatever color the cars interior comes in usually but I guess on lower end models it is because black matches almost everything

Seatbelts are not all black in fact Manufactures like Lexus colour code them.I have one and the belts are in cream.

they do come in all colours but for any number of reasons they are black. Why are video cassettes black? no particular reason, they just are.
i have cream seat belts to match the cream leather interior of my car. problem is, they dont clean as easily as the leather and are now a slightly darker shade. I would have preferred black as they would have looked cleaner for longer.
