I have a ford mondeo diesel, 2005 model, recently the coil symbol has started to flash? Why?
Answers:
It is indicating that your glow plugs have a fault .This will not however cause loss of power.Have you checked your air cleaner element? This is often over looked on diesels this will cause poor performance. Mick
Diesels always suck. Take it back to the dealer if it is an 05
thats an engine pre heat warning i think.
the glow plugs might need changing
Diesels don't suck, in fact they can be more fuel efficient than gasoline. (Also, they don't make vacuum, another indication of non-sucking)
The flashing light is, of course, a warning that something is not working as it should. Take it to Ford and have them read the error code on the scanner and they can tell you what it needs.
i have seen this problem loads of times on the new diesels the glow plug light when flashing is the engine management light, and on the mondeos is normally mean that the injectors have gone out of sync.
that is why it seems slugging, take it to a dealer and tell them the problem and say that you have been told that the injectors have gone out of sync.
i have had 5 mondeos in my workshop with the same problem.
hope this helps.
it sounds like you have loss of vacuum which controls the turbo is it smoking and have you had it serviced recently
u need a new alternator but being an 05 should be under warranty
