What car would you recommend?

I am looking for a small city car new for around £8000.
Any ideas?

Answers:
Toyota Yaris
a toyota, those cars run forever!
Honda Jazz
VW Golfs are good. apparently they are cheap at the moment
New Suzuki Swift.
My wife has one and I just cant stop driving it.
gonna have to go for the yaris.but get the sport version so u have air con and cd player.plus they're very reliable.
mustang lx 1988 I got mine for $400
depends on they type of guy you are
Have a look at the new Citroen C2, they are around £8500 for half a year old, and that's the VTS, that's right, the top of the range sporty one. It comes with Air Con, Flappy Paddles behind the steering wheel to change gear, as well as traction control, 6 CD changer and a sporty 1.6 engine.

I must agree that the Toyota Yaris is pretty good, but to be honest i think the styling of it isn't very good, and the quality of the build and the interior isn't very good.

If you want to but something cheap, and not have to spend much on it with maintenance, try a British Car Company, I'd recommend Vauxhall, but there is also Ford and Rover (gone bust though i think). These are cheap because spares, and replacements, like brake pads, cam belts and other things that have to be replaced are easy to find, and made in the UK, so they dont have to be imported.

Hope you find a suitable car!
Anything japanese. Toyota 1st choice.
Honda civic, you can get a nice one for 8 grand
toyota camry
im the one who asked about life insurance, why dont you get a robin reliant like del boy had,im being very serious about the life insurance i wouldnt cause her any arm for all the money in the world.im only kidding about the del boy car.my brothers just had a hyundai coupe and its absoulutly mint, very sporty looking, cruise control and everything on it,i dont think he spent anymore than £8000 on it,hope this has helped you.
Proton!!
That depends on what you are specifically looking for in a car.

Having said that, I would suggest you pick within these selections. These are all the cars available on the market that are:
-Hatchbacks
-under £10K (You can probably negotiate down to £8K)
-engine size between .8 and 1.4
-Manual transmission
-get at least 47 MPG
You can find these selections on Yahoo! Cars at: http://cars.yahoo.co.uk/browse_100354123.

My opinions on these cars (I'm in the auto industry so have quite a lot of general knowledge about these cars) would be either the:
-Toyota Aygo
-Toyota Yaris
-Ford Fiesta
-VW Polo

I just bought a new VW polo about a month ago-the 1.2 SE and it is a brilliant run around car.

Hope that helps :)
Do not buy anything Jap. they murder whales. Buy a VW. Reliable, economical and cheap.
