CDX was the top model but its a gas guzzler.
If it had been an Opel Omega made in Germany it would have
been better
the omega is a very comfortable car
it is a popular taxi car so is reliable
Omegas are a bit sh*it unfortunately. Most major fleet-users have dropped them like hot turds, citing too many problems as the reason. Even the police tried them as replacements for the Senator for a short period, and they were rubbish.
i had one of these..got shot of it petty damn quick it slurped feul, its ok if you can afford to run it a very nice drive, but with the rise in fuel prices id think very carfully.you may want to opt for the 3 litre, belive it or not they are more fuel efficient due to the engine being more powerful and not having to put so much effort into lugging around a big car.
big, cheap, well equipped barge, bit underpowered without the v6 but if the price is right own it!
depends if you like driving a canal barge
you get a lot of car for the money second hand, wouldn't touch new.if you can afford the petrol and get the AA to do a vehicle or a mate will probably be a good buy
my uncle has one, actually bought another because he loved it so much. He has had two omega`s so far loves them. So he kept and upgrading. xx
I've got two Omegas - but both 2.5 V6, one a CDX the other a CD.
The 2.0 litres are seriously underpowered - the 2.2 should be OK, but lacking the torque of a 2.5 / 3.0 or 3.2 V6.
The 3.0 MV6 were favourites of the UK Police for pursuit vehicles!
CDX spec is the best you can get before 'ELITE' but only the 3.0 and newer 2.5's came as that.
It'll be a reasonable car, but fuel costs in the 2.2 will be about the same as the 2.5 - around 28mgp (combined).

They are not a problem except image.Faults used to be cam belts and tensioners breaking up and several probs with the electrical system.Also the seats are very uncomfortable after a long journey.
A 2.2 in a car that heavy won't be that powerful. It'll be ok but I owned a 3.0 Elite for a month earlier this year and although it was ok it just wasn't what I expected. Even that wasn't that fast. They are remarkably similar to the old Vauxhall Carltons, like driving a big blunderbus. Suppose its down to taste but the Ford Scorpio (the one that looked like it was designed by a lunatic) was a much more homely car. Ride was more planted and it gave more feedback about what the wheels were doing. not to mention the suspention that was just in a league way above the Vauxhalls which relied too much on its weight for a smooth ride.
