Why does my car sometimes cut out when warm and stationary never moving?
Answers:
get the thermostat checked out
Sounds like the air/fuel mixture is incorrect. It probably needs a service.
Idle screw needs adjusting.
It sounds like the "ticking over" or idle speed is too low.
You can check this by doing the following:
When the car is warm and your are stationary, if you think it's about to stall try revving the engine slightly (in neutral!) If the car still stalls, then my suggestion is probably wrong. If the car carries on ticking over I could well be right.
I think it's quite a simple adjustment (I know it is on my motorbike anyway!) Either consult a handbook (available from places like WHSmiths - you can usually get one specific to your car) or take it to a mechanic who knows what they're doing.
Good luck!!
its because of the water temperature, even some times it doesn't show, n also the carburetor.
my gf`s grandma had a car like that then she got a knew one.
PROBLEM SOLVED!
I can think of 3 possible causes
1-Vacuum leak, lets air into the system so weakens the mixture too much causing the engine to stall, when you are moving the amount of extra air isn't as significant
2-ECU failing
3-Air Idle control valve needs adjusting or replacing.
Its probably your idle air control valve these give problems you describe.
