Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?

It is just a term used for when the majority of society are leaving work ... i can understand why you would ask .. in fact i'm surprised that you even knew it was called that!!!
it's the time when everyone is rushing to get home or to work
Because everyone is in a rush to get to where they're going.
cause everyones rushing to get from point A to point B at the same time. Thus causing traffic jams..
Ah, the wonders of the English language. The same reason that we can raze a building to the ground - by blowing it up !! and you can send a shipment by car, but a cargo goes by ship.
Cause everyone is in a rush, and it's frustrating!..
