loose connection under the switch, very easy to sort, i also have a 95 escort..you may end up having to get another switch but there are loads in scrap yard.also try hitting the switch that sometimes works, i had probs with boot and windows switch which is near hand brake..either way its not expensive and very easy to fix
you need to role it out
check if you have power to the switch, if so switch is duff.
lose conection or dodgy switch
I too had this but could not trace the fault at all in the end I had to assume it was computer controlled. I bought a steering wheel lock to act as a secondary barrier.
As I remember the dealer wanted about £300 to fix it.
I am suspicious about these computer controlled things?
It used to be called planned maintenance to correct something before its need. Today I think it must be planned benefit for the dealer and the breakdown is timed thus.
I have had washing machines go like this and when I tested the motor and found no fault in the field or armature windings I was told it was the computer but the guy replaced the motor?
