My car has a leak in the radiator which means the air con doesn't work. Is the car still roadworthy?

i.e if I can put up with not having air conditioning, will it still pass its roadworthy certficate or is there a danger of the car engine overheating? Are there 2 radiators in a car with aircon - a normal one and one for the air con?

Answers:
The engine has a radiator, the one you see in front of it is called the condenser, which is a main part of the A/C system. You won't see anything leaking out because the refrigerant in the system turns to a gas when vented to the atmosphere.Your car won't over heat and its still road worthy.
I'd say no with summer approaching. Fix the leak.
Im no mechanic but I've never heard of a car with 2 radiators. But as far as being roadworthy, not knowing where you are, I'd say having a leak in the radiator is unroadworthy, regardless of whether the aircon works or not. Bit like having a spare tyre in the back that is bald, it's unroadworthy, but if the bald tyre wasn't in the back, it's not unroadworthy!
It is still road worthy, as long as there is coolant in the radiator to prevent the engine from overheating. If the trip is not too long, you should be OK. I would advise getting it repaired as soon as possible. If the leak is small, you may be able to fix it yourself by add Stop-Leak or a similar product to plug the hole. Ask some one at an auto parts store about it. Still, you should have it fixed before it ruins your engine.
Your radiator has nothing to do with your A/C. If your radiator has a leak you better have that fixed or you will over heat and end up stranded. If it's a leak in the A/C line some where it's no big deal and you can still drive it. Weather or not it will pass inspection depends on where you are and what standard they use.
If its a coolant leak from the engine radiator you should get it fixed.
The other radiator is a condensor for the A/C. If it leaks you can safely drive the car but your A/C will not work.
its the condensor leaking. that is in front of the radiator. as long as you do not see antifreeze, no radiator leak. also make sure the radiator is full.
email me with what you car is. i can't tell other wise, but from what i know your car should have one radiator and the other radiator like part is for your trans or a/c. i can't remember exactly
The radiator cools the engine. The radiator looking thing in front of the engine radiator is for the A/C.
