My 18yr old son has just passed his test, anyone recomend a car thats cheap to insure in the uk?
Answers:
Try and get him an older car with a engine size below 1100, having a Pass Plus can get him up to a 33% with some insurance companies (MORETHAN (?)ins used to do it)
Dont but a car and insure it in your name with him on it..this is called a "fronted policy", and many people dont know it basically isnt legal. If you do this and claim, the insurance company will declare the policy null and void, meaning they will pay out nothing.
You can try CIS insurance, they used to do a legal similar version of a fronted policy.
Congratulations to your son.
You can have mine!
A Fiesta , small Fiat or a Corsa are all low insurance groups and very cheap to insure.
Peddle car
To be honest I really dont think you are going to find anywhere with cheap car insurance because if his age and the fact he's a first time driver. I dont know if you could put him on your insurance as a start.
depends how much u can spend on car- cheap cars to buy and insure are: suzuki swift, peugeot 106, renaut clio, fiesta and look fairly good too (mabye not swift, but isn't bad car!), but if insurance is only prob, smart cars cost hardly anything to insure but quite expensive to buy, also corsa quite cheap to insure but cost more to buy.
Corsa - think they chuck in free insurance if you buy new
Used my so got it for £400
any small car, the citroen saxo 1.1 should do it, its nippy so he wont feel a tw@t and its cheap for you to insure for him
a fiat punto is a cheap, economical car, a 1200 engine would suit him for now as a first time driver,
they have a good shaped body and can be sported up with accessories
Buy a Honda/Acura I love mine, good on gas and holds value. Very good for a 18 year olds if into Sport Compact.
no such thing as cheap insurance for an 18 year old lad!
try saxo,106, punto, clio, ka all of these should be something similar.
The BMW 3 Series is an entry-level luxury car / compact executive car manufactured by BMW since May 1975. It was the successor to the 2002 coupe, retaining much of that car's styling while adding a more powerful 2.0 L 110 hp (82 kW) engine and other performance enhancements. The 3 Series was for some time the smallest car line manufactured by BMW, although that place was in 2004 taken by the BMW 1 Series. The 3 series is BMW's best selling automobile, accounting for nearly 40% of all automobiles sold by the company in 2005.

buy a cheap ford fiesta, register it in your name and have him as a second named driver..thats what i did saved him a fortune and got him used to the road
.A fiesta or corsa or metro then go to direct line for his insurance they were brill for us even when we had our smash they did,nt mess us around with paying up the firm that repaired our car.
Get full comp and a car that is reliable otherwise all the saving you are trying to make will go on repairing it and by the way good luck on your son passing his test
fiesta
None i reckon the odds are stacked against him he,s just to young shame but its a fact of life
a vw polo
Corsa is cheap to insure also Citreon C2, the real problem is his age there is no cheap insurance as such.A cheaper option would be to put him on your own car insurance.
Peugeot 107..
a Series Landrover , or an old V W Beetle
Fiesta, KA
The best way is to go on insurance sites and various quotes with different cars, and expect if on his own insurance to no less than £900
Make sure he takes his advanced driving test straight away and it will save him money all of his life. As for which car, just make sure its 1100 or maybe 1400CC. Good luck!
Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa are cheap to insure and replacement parts are inexpensive too.
