How do you turn off the airbag warning light in a vw golf?
Answers:
check the fuse -- this has happened to me also.
I'm at work, and my haines manual (you should buy one for every car you ever own) is at home.
I'll see if I can find out later and get back to you.
Hi Richard! I didn't realize until after I responded to your note that you're in the UK. Since I am in the US, my fuse chart might not apply to you, so I apologize. I hope you get it fixed.
you have to go to a main dealer and they do it with a computer it doesnt cost alot
Get it fixed.
get it down to th garage- if there's a light flashing- it surely means something's gone wrong and you ought to check it out before you're involved in an accident god forbid
If this light is remaining on when the car is running.contact the service dept of the dealership where you purchased the car and have it looked at by them.
The light on could simply be a problem in the computer.a sensor gone perhaps. Easily replaced by the service tech.
Good luck
Dealership will help you. It needs an authorised computer coding to be deactivated. Try to deactivate the airbag, I think the switch is located on the door near the lock. You will need to have the door open to see it
Get the airbag fixed. Go to a dealer or VW mechanic and see what they say.
try going and gettin it fixed or ya could try crashin into a tree that should also turn that light off
You have to go get it scanned. It should be pretty simple.
Take it to the dealer to have the car scanned using a VAG-COM device. This device is used on all VW products to find fault codes, reset programs, and change settings in the cars' computer (such as a seatbelt chime). BTW, it will also turn off the airbag warning light.
The warning light is warning you of a fault somewhere in the airbag system.
Get the fault fixed, and the light will go out.
Your local VW dealer will be able to interrogate the airbag system's Sensing and Diagnostic Module to find out what the fault is.
Whatever you do DO NOT TRY TO TAKE OUT THE BULB (it will break and your car will not start again ) i know from experience on mine i thought just take out the bulb it will be OK Big Mistake cost me over £300 to put right . if your sure the car hasn't been in an accident then any car electrical company can turn out the light cheaper than the dealers . if it has been in a crash then a sensor has gone off but there is loads so its hard to find which one without the machine , what i have done since is just put some blue tack over the bulb then hey presto .. good luck .
Crash it.
the fact the light is on states that the airbag is now switched off and will not activate in an accident, it has to go into a v/w dealership to have the on board computer accessed to verify the fault
