How can i disconnect a factory fitted immobiliser on my n reg mondeo?

Answers:
Locate the alarm spider by removing the centre console, dash panel and entire screen facia. The spider is connected to the main harness using a security cable attachment that contains 96 ( 4 banks of 24) cables, all coloured black.

You need to identify 18 of the cables that are used to send control signals to the ECU, and receive data from ABS, Speed sensors, Emission control and ignition timing systems.

Disconnecting any of the other 78 cables immediately renders the Spider, ECU and engine management units inoperative - permanently, so be very careful.

By the way, disconnecting the security plug from the spider will also count as an illegal disconnect and also result in an ultraviolet sensitive fluid being sprayed on both you and the spider unit, so stay away from disco lights for about 2 weeks.

Once you have found the correct wires to disconnect - and each car is codified differently- they will have to be reconnected in such a way as to by-pass the existing spider connections, this too is different for each car.

If the car is a petrol/Gas model, you will need to buy a new ignition sensing unit, including the flywheel, new dash instruments because all your old ones will no longer work, and spend a good deal of time re-wiring the spider sense ports to enable the following to work - Headlights ( in all modes) wipers, brake lights, electric windows, ABS sense and indication, cruise control if fitted, Throttle pickup, idle speed control, Lambda sensing, fuel pump control and Air bag control if fitted.

If the vehicle is diesel, you will need a new fuel metering unit, injection control system instead of the ignition sensing unit, and all the additional work as detailed above.

Additionally you will also require the original encryption codes when the spider was fitted, a test-book or similar dedicated diagnostic computer to identify the correct cabling sequences.

You will then have to notify your insurance company stating that you have removed the immobiliser circuitry which will affect your premiums accordingly.

If the car is stolen, if recovered the assessor will carry out an ultraviolet inspection and discover that the spider has been tampered with, the mileage at the point of disconnect is recorded on the spider chip and can be read on the test-book, as can date and time.

I didn't say it was easy!!
