speedo works when you start and set off ,then when driving ,just stops

there is water getting into the connection where it goes into the gearbox.take the plug off, dry it, put it back and put insulation tape around it .I had the same on a vw passat

i'd say you have a sheared gear somewhere in the speedo's workings. Take it out and then replace it easy!
