Which is better / cheaper from your experience? Franchised servicing (ie -Kwik Fit) or an independent garage?

Answers:
Independent garages, hands down--depending on the garage, of course. On the whole, though, independents are immensely superior to the franchises.

Especially in my area.after having to fix the cut-rate jobs done by the local franchises. (Shocks missing lower mounting bolts, leaking caliper lines, engines blown because of improper oil changes.I could fume for days.)

Besides, have you ever seen any "ASE-Certified" signs in front of the franchised servicing places?
Kwik Fit are all schysters..they stitch you up be warned it happened to me.they did work on my car which I had not requested..they put shock absorbers on..I asked them to take it off as I was not going to pay the extra..they threatened me by saying.we know where you live & we will come around one night & take them off..I went psyco..they didnt do a thing..keep well away.they are big trouble..
As long as the garage you take it to has been recommended to you or you know they provide a good service then go by price. Franchised garages will NOT be cheaper (they have to pay for the franchise rights) and from my own experiance they do not offer a superior service for the extra cost.

The best advice is look around, ask questions, find a garage you trust and stick with them. Good Luck
from experience the franchise is usually cheaper but the quality of work from an indepenent can be far superior.
Ask around for recommendations for independant garages, they cost less & do a far better job. You'll soon see how good they are when you try to book the car in, a good independant garage will always be busy so be prepared to wait.
