What is the standed cost of running a car per mile?

The company i work for ask me to go some where on business in my own private car and said they would pay for the petrol and i said that its not just the cost of petrol its insurence and wear and tear on the car

The Tax office allows you an allowance of 45p (I think ) per mile
Genarally you would be right to charge them 45p a mile , also make sure that you are coveredby your insurance for business use.
for the first 10,000 miles your employer should be paying you 40p per mile.
My employers pay 34p per mile. This should cover petrol, wear and tear and the additional cost of having to insure your car for business use. I know some employers pay as much as 40p per mile.
