Thanks,

I'll keep that in mind,

What do yours look like?

LOL
get your local paper and get out and about and look at cars close by your home address. For a start, you need to consider the warranty angle, you will have very little come back should anything go wrong if you buy privately, you also run the risk of being ripped off with little course for redress as many are unscrupulous and will give you any old bull as details when selling you a duff motor.
You will need to look at each vehicle carefully, and to be able to take someone with you that is very knowledgeable about cars. and you will need to ensure there is an HPI check done, you don't want to find you've bought something with outstanding finance, its a huge minefield, buy from somewhere people trust and not from private ads
Try Parkers online it beats yahoo cars hands down and i've seen some really good deals on there . Remember look for a full service history . Good Luck
Try cars4u .

www.exchangeandmart.co.uk
www.fish4cars.co.uk
www.swapz.co.uk (sort of anyway)
www.carcraft.co.uk
check for local websites with a search engine, it's suprising how many there are
I work in the online world specifically on autos sites and can tell you, there are a host of sites around, but the biggest/best ones are:

Largest in UK: www.autotrader.co.uk
these guys have lots of cars and limited information on reviews etc. as well.

2nd largest in UK: http://uk.cars.yahoo.com/
Don't have quite as many cars, but have tons and tons of great information on reviews/roadtests/ratings etc. on cars to give you a more rounded solution.

www.ebaymotors.co.uk is growing, but they have no information on reviews etc. and winning a bid is not the same as buying the car legally (which you wouldn't want to do without seeing/inspecting it anyways) so may be more hassle than it's worth, though you may find a good deal on there.

If you are looking for a car that has the official backing of the manufacturer as a guaranteed quality used car, this site has nothing but approved cars on it, but again does not have any review/rating content. http://www.allapprovedcars.com/.

Those are clearly the best choices in the market for typical used cars.
Look on the website Heyday.org.uk/finance. They can get a good deal and maybe get a reduction from the dealer.
