How do i fix rover 416 i brake lights?
Answers:
Firstly, go back to the mechanic and get your money back!
Then go to Halfords and buy the Haynes Workshop Manuel for your car, these are about £10.00.
You could hang two wires outside the car for a test circuit. Connect the two wires to light (whatever way you can), and touch to battery terminals to see if it works. Then connect the two wires to the output of the light switch and see if it works properly. If it works, find a way to run those wires and mount them permanently.
If it doesn't work when the circuit has been tested on the battery and then connected to the switch, or if you cannot connect to the switch, as a last resort you could run the two wires as a new circuit, and connect a toggle switch just for the back lights (don't forget to turn it on and off correctly) - or replacement of the switch or further troubleshooting of the light's power circuit upstream of the switch would be necessary. Good luck!
Try looking at the fuses, they are usually under the dashboard and are labeled as to what they go to and find the one for your brake lights. If its blown, it is a very cheap fix.
