Why would a toyota lucida jump in and out of gear between 50 and 60mph?

it jumped up then down a gear then did the same again then slipped into neutral yet after that it was fine, maybe as we stayed under 50mph

Answers:
Worn gears, or a faulty clutch.

Get it looked at ASAP
if your sure the gear is fully selected, then it jumps out, especially on the over run [foot of throttle]i would think the gearbox is worn
more than likely the diff is worn, as it's an auto it doesnt have a clutch as some1 else suggested but a Torque converter get that checked as well
fourth gear needs attention, take it the garage
