its the engine size which is measured in "cc" so 1 is 1600 n the other is 1800

i think what he was getting at was overall difference. for example, i have a granada. the 2.9 granada was considered top of the range wiv more goodies as standars. however the 2.4 and the 2.0 had less items, the toys u got on the 2.9 were only optional on the 2.4 and 2.0. However the granada is very old now so things may have changed lol
1800 pulls better than the 1600, difference in fuel consumption not worth bothering about, maybe slightly higher insurance but again not worth bothering about.
buy the 1800 everytime.
Fuel consumption is the main difference, 1.6 litre is actually less economical than 1.8 litre - on a diesel model anyway, i cant speak for petrol. I get approx 45-50mpg on my 1.8 diesel
cant give you an answer based on fuel consumption or insurance bollocks but can tell you that ive git a 1600 and it really lacks the power of the 1800 that i have driven. to be honest the price of fuel and insurance wont be different enough to make a difference. 1800 is better
if your choosing a diesel model the diferance is huge as the 1.6 suffers turbo lag also you get alloys air con on the 1.8 as standard the 1.8 tdci sport is proberly the besr one to go for.
