How long will a subaru sti last if thrashed like hell . done 15000 miles in mine so far. how long has it got?
Answers:
Is your scooby a jap import or uk. If jap only run shell optimax fuel and change engine oil and filter every 10,000 miles with mobil1 fully synthetic.
Thrash it as much as you want when the engine is warm only.
Also depends if youve played with it increasing BHP etc.
Always let the turbo run down before turning off your ignition let it idle for 1 minute at least.
Great car, mines 1996 wrx 275bhp and thats nuts enough for me, sti has stronger engine (closed block) stronger crank etc
Could go on and on and on. Enjoy
Till you hit a tree !!
not long about 21000 i got out of mine then blow up on M6 fun but costly
my mate neils lasted for 35000 miles till it blew up and cost him £3500 to get it back on the road.
I cant understand that the gearbox has lasted this long.
First time you hit 9000 rpm, it will be over.
keep up with the oil and tranny/diff fluids and you'll be ok. eventually something will break, though. that goes for any car no matter how you drive it. also, it depends on what you mean by "thrashed like hell". if you're doing redline clutch dumps, or using a launch control, then your going to be needing new gears/synchros eventually. if you're doing rolling start races, then make sure your snail cools off so the oil in it doesn't sludge up. as long as you take care of the cars fluids and maintenance, you'll be fine. i have an 02 wrx tuned to 333whp/300ft/lb and i'm at about 65k miles with no problems.
Service it regularly and check the oil all the time. You wont have any problems they are reliable cars.
A blue subaru was keeping up with me the other day on the a12. Ive got a new Ferrari F430 and it kept up to about 65 then i dissapeared. Liked it though and you could hear it over mine which says a lot for it.
Good car I am going to buy a civic type r for my brother when that comes out next year. that is realiable and you can punish those all day everyday. Even though I drive Ferrari and a Cls55 amg I still like Honda engines. Love revving you see, I would consider a new NSX if that ever makes it.
why did you even buy it then? i cant stand people like you either your a young punk who needs mommy and daddy to throw your butt out the house or you work in an office. either way its a shame what your doing to that car p.s. dont take any of YOUNG MANs advice he reads to many tuner mags and you can tell he dont know a oil cap from a spark plug
