Megane Scenic (54) died at traffic lights, wing mirror broken day before - any advice?
Answers:
what actually happens when you push the start button? does the engine crank over or just sit there doing nothing? check the card reader is secure as these can come loose, check the black box behind the passenger side headlight, these suffer from poor connections - just wiggle all wires you can in that area, also check fuel level as the gauges on these cars do play up.
its FRENCH!! SCRAP IT!!
Best to take it to a Renault dealer. It does sound like a short circuit & they have a machine that plugs in & traces the fault
54 is very old for a car, i think you had better just invest in a newer one, maybe one, say around 2 years old. Im sure the modern cars are much more reliable!
I would go for a short cuased by the wiring which drained the battery and then caused a problem in the ecu.
Go visit an renault garage I have just brought one 2004 year and it is all electrics even the bloody ignition doesn't have a key it has a card thing. So yeah visit a renault garage as they have a machine which tells you what is wrong with the electics.
I had to answer this as I am laughing at one of the other answers to your question, Juan thinks a 54 is a1954 car, classic, literally.
Why has he attempted a question like this when he obviously knows nothing about cars.
I agree you should get down your local dealer so they can trace the fault, be careful though don't just accept the bill though because it should be under warranty. It doesn't matter if the wing mirror was knocked off.
It is a constant mystery to me why anyone, (including the French) would ever buy a Renault when the world is full of Skodas, Zils and oxcarts.
there are several things you can do..
unlock and lock the car 3 times then try to start it.
With the ignition on.. what error is showing?
Try starting the car off another car with jump leads..
oh and it is a renault it will go wrong and bits will fall off of it but it is all part of the joy of renault ownership
