How do I get the battery out of the key fob for a vauxhall astra car?

Answers:
first gently lift the tab on the side of the key opposite to the buttons - then slide the metal part of the key and u shaped plastic part off the remote - note the immobiliser chip in one corner of the u - don`t lose it or your car will not start! then spilt the remote in two with your fingers revealing the battery and circuitry. the battery cradle is delicate so be careful here. the battery is hooked under one side and a spring pushes it into them push back against the spring and lift the battery. if the cradle is loose you may need a new remote - or if your able to line up the electrical contacts you can hold it in place with a piece of folded paper on top of the battery and quick reassembly of the remote housing! it sounds unprofessional but it saves money! if the light works but it still won`t open it may need to be reprogrammed - put the key in the ignition and turn to position two - that's ignition on but not started and press the lock button twice - the doors should lock then open if it has worked if not bring it to your local dealer and 10 mins to programme
get a new car!
one less embarrassing
Look in the handbook or go to local Vauxhall dealer and ask at parts / service dept.
If it's the one with the large keyfob with integral keyblade, you need a flat ended screwdriver and lever it open.
A flat bladed screwdriver, or sometimes a 5 pence peice fits in the slot enough to open it.
