My car gets very hot even when driven short distances, oil and water fine?

Could be a faulty thermostat. Might be a blocked radiator. Take it to the garage before it overheats. It'll be cheaper at this stage.
Maybe the fan is not spinning . I cannot say "fanbelt has gone" because most modern cars have an electric fan. Failing that, stuck thermostat, failing that, head gasket gone.

With the limited info you have given, I'd have to say have someone pressure flush your coolent system and replace the thermostat. You might even want to have a mech pressure flush the oil system.

for answer. all cars are difrent. heating matrix is probley the thing .but if its someting like an bmw. bleed the air out of the top of the radiator.
Allow the car to freewheel on a level road, if it stops quicker than expected you could have binding brakes.
Make sure your handbrake is off.
Jack up each wheel in turn, check that it turns freely.
If you do suspect a braking problem have it fixed professionally.
also check your tyres are not under inflated.
Other than that you could be looking at a blown head gasket.
It may be worth taking out the thermostat. pop it in a pan of boiling to confirm the valve is opening.

Mine did that and it was the thermostat. Go to garage and get it sorted.
Leave your car ticking over until the temperature gauge is showing hot, put on your heaters. If they blow cold, your car is overheating, as mentioned previously it could be the thermostat, open your oil cap on the top of the engine. If there is milky gunge, your cylinder heads leaking water into the oil. If this is the case u could be lucky and it just needs the head skimmed and a new gasket, Worst case scenario, the head is cracked meaning you would need a new one. Very expensive.
if its temperature heat it sounds like thermostat sticking.only solution is to have it tested but by the time it takes may aswell just replace.
