Is it true that Britain and Europe use different railway tracks?
Answers:
only russia uses a wider gauge track than europe/uk this is due to the freezing/thawing of the tundra wider tracks spreads the weight so the track resist sinking in the summer monthe the germans had a real hard time using the tracks during the war there were only a dozen or so engines that were wide enough to run on them so seizing railways was useless to thier logistics helping the russian army to defeat germany
Hi, We in UK, and in Europe have the same gauge (width) tracks, but some aeas have better QUALITY tracks, so trains can move faster and more safetly on them
Yeah, Britain's tracks are from the 19th century, in Europe they have modern facilities!
The only difference is that their trains keep to the right while ours keep to the left, actually we change to different buggys at Calais.
I don't think so I think they use the same train track
No the tracks are the same width. What is different is the loading gauge, in Britain the bridges and tunnels are lower and the platforms higher. The Eurostar is bilt to british loading gauge and uses steps below the doors in erope.
