Help my engine management light has come on and my MOT is tomorrow morning will this casue the car to fail. Also under the bonnet is a large spherical container with a blue cap and a picture of a thermometer on it. what is in this as it is at the minimum level -and could this be related to the engine management light?

Large spherical container - radiator header tank. Top up with water and anti-freeze when the engine is stopped. You can get the correct mixture from good car accessory shops or Halfords or you can mix your own. Some header tanks have a low level warning system, this might be the cause of the engine management system light to come on.
Check the level again after a week, if it is low again go to your local garage as you have a water leak.
Might be or might be not.
Check all your fluids levels ( coolant, brakes, A/T, Engine oil, Power Steering)
