Personally I would advise against this move - get a professional to do the job. I had mine done by a local garage for £45 which is not a lot of money. If you do it and get it wrong then the resulting damage to your Air-Con could cost you up to £1000 to put right. You also need to dispose of the used refrigerant through licensed sites and not down local drainage system
first of all why do you need to service the a/c ? the a/c is a sealed system so unless someone removed hose or fitting and let out the refrigerant there is a leak in the system and you would be just wasting time and money without repairing the leak first!
its better to get it done at a certified shop but you can do it urself, but be CAREFUL, feon can burn your skin the instant it touches it and if you take enough of it into you lungs u can die, ive recharged systems before but if you have no exp. doing it, get it done professionally.

First you must purge all the old gas then refill and pressurise the system , find the correct pressure for your car before proceeding
you dont just need to top up r134a, you need to drain then vac the system to boil all moisture out. i strongly suggest you have it done professionally
