My dodge ram gas truck keeps running about 220 to 240, i have put a new thermastate in and flushed.?

it still runs hot. what else can i do or check?

Answers:
rams have a water pump problem if it still has green atifreeze in it replace the water pump you know its bad when u remove it its made of alum and rots out after u replace it us4e a long life coolent
look and see if it has a radiator hose that is closing together on it,,this will cause it not to circulate good in the engine,,other wise it may have a clogged up radiator on it,,make sure there is no debris in front of the radiator,,and nothing that would cut off the air supply for it,,other wise it may have a bad water pump on it,,the pump ,,may not be leaking on it,,but the fins that turn and actually pump the water may be getting worn out,,this cuts down on the speed of the flow of water through it,,and will cause it to run hot,,on you,,,,i own a repair shop,,and i do this all the time,,you would be surprised at the bad pumps i have seen,,especially on the dodge,s,,i hope this help,s,,good luck with it.
There is good information here but before I went to all that I would make sure the temp. gage is correct. (I went through this before in an older car only to find out that the problem was that the gage showed it being hotter than it really was.
those are all good ideas but the first and easyiest think to check is the clutch fan. They go bad all the time and are definatly the most common thing to need. all you have to do is have some one in the truck when it is running and you watching under the hood have the shut off the motor if the fan spins more than 2 revs after the motor has stoped the clutch is bad. Also generaly when the water pump goes bad there is a bypass hole in the bottom that will leak antifreeze because the pressure of it getting warm is greater than the flow of the pump. Just food for thought, but definatly check the fan
fit a secondary fan to the front of the radiator but make sure the fan blows cool air onto the radiator
I go with twincamspirit, the most likely is the fan clutch, when the car is cold the fan clutch es free Wheeling, not moving the air, when it gets hot, the fan clutch engages and the fan moves at the same speed that the engine, you will feel a rush of air when revving the engine, if you don't feel the air then your fan clutch is defective, another way is to put a piece of paper in front of the condenser and rev the engine, the flow of air should keep the paper in place
You can also take the radiator in and have it roded out and boiled.
