Could i use an angle grinder to remove a stubborn exhuast pipe tail box?
Answers:
If you use a hammer around the joint Lightly and around the joint you will make it loose, this moves the rust and the grip then you can twist side to side this will then start to come out,if its still tight use an old screwdriver to prise the outer flange out a little then twist it again. If you keep twisting it in the end it will move and come out, have done this many times. If you use an angle grinder its going to make the slot to big then its going to leak from the slots you have made bigger. If you relay don't need the tail box hit the tail box in the direction outwards to get it off with a hammer and a piece of wood.
Yea it will but you might have a job resealing it when you come to fit the new one.
yes, you could, its a lot of work, i would use a sawzall
no, a sawzall is for cutting metal, wood, whatever, you can get metal or wood blades to suit your needs!
if you have enough room to use the grinder then thats fine, just make the existing slots longer and then pry them apart with chisel but dont cut through the pipe underneath
A very cautious yes
These things bite very hard in the wrong hands and I would warn that you need to be sure you know exactly what you are doing.
I use these tools daily and have done for thirty plus years and they will get you if you do not have the skill to use them properly
Trust me I know. Please be careful if you insist that you are competent enough to use one. Any doubt then leave it to someone else
Question your own skill and capability
if you need to ask your not man enough to use one
If you do this note that you need a thin METAL cutting disc. Do not cut through the pipe cut off the tail box as close as possible to the main box which will leave the stub still on the pipe. Now push a screwdriver or similar between the two tubes and prise them apart or if the cut off stub does not have pipe right up to the end make a saw cut along the pipe and wedge the cut open which should make it possible to wiggle it about with a pair of pliers to loosen it and get it off. A drop of WD40 helps.
