My remote control key for my Opel Astra doesnt work. I have tried 2 new batteries but still no joy. Any help?

Try turning on Ignition so dash lights come on, then press lock and unlock on remote fob, whilst key is still in ignition. You should get a plip noise or flash on the indicators. If not then it will have to be recoded on Tech 2 Vauxhalls diagnostic machine

This may sound weird, but I'm not making it up. Try holding the control against the side of your head when you push the button. For some weird reason heads amplify the signal.
Are the batteries in right?
go to the dealer where you got your car from and explain to them what has happended you probabaly have to send the gadget back to the car manaufacturer and probabaly get it looked at.
if it has a screw in the back open and blow on the little terminals might have dust or etc but don't open it if it dosen't have a screw if that dosen't work ring dealer.
Your fob may have de-coded, one possible way to re-code is to switch your ignition key to ACC, and then hold the fob near to the interior light, and then press and hold for 5 secs, it may then re-code.I know it works, I just cannot remember on which make and model!
take it to a dealership and they can fix it.
Most likely, the programming for the remote died when you removed the batteries. You may need to reprogram the remote in order for it to communicate with your car. Most dealerships tell you that they charge for doing that, but when you get there find someone that looks friendly in their service department and ask them for help.

Get new batteries for your key.If this does not solve the problem contact yoyr nearest Vauxhall dealer urgently. If you contact AA or RAC, they will break into your car for you BUT you will be left with a damaged car which will ahve to go to the dealer for repair anyway.
This problem is uaually just a dead battery
Get a new car instead.
If you buy a good car you'll get a good key.
Alot of cars have batt backups in the actual car its self check & see if those batts are down. Good luck!
Occasionally this can happen to Vauxhall / Opel cars.
The key needs to be 'paired' to the car again. You can do this yourself.
Open the car with the key. Even if it has been deadlocked it WILL open (just VERY stiff). Insert Key into ignition - postion dash 'lights on' and press & hold the OPEN button on the remote. You might get a chirp or a flash (depends on model) / or the locks will lock-unlock.

Most USA GM products you have to remove the Mall,PGM fuse and follow instructions and listen for Start program signal "Bong bong bong" then push the door lock button on one remote then operate the door lock "bong bong bong" and push the button on the second remote.
my mate Big Bird has had this problem before . The batteries have been in so long that the springs compress and lose some tension.This can be cured by taking the battery out and carefully bending the contact s up a little.should work ok
consult your dealer. if that don't work scrap it
