I have 3 matchbox war model kits and want to know if they are worth anything, two have never been opened!?
Answers:
WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T OPEN THE BOXES ! Pack them carefully and send/take them along to one of the auction houses. You'll be able to find which ones specialise in stuff like this on the web. If they're in the original packing and therefore "virgin" they'll be worth EVEN MORE than if mucked about with.
PS, keep a note of my name so that you can e-mail me some of the proceeds. (In all seriousness, they could be worth a lot more than you think!) Good luck with them. DON'T put them on eBay so that someone can twist you out of your money, because if you do, the first thing the purchaser will do will be to take them to an auction house - etc - etc - etc!
Look up on ebay for auctions of the same item that have already closed and see how much they went for.
try to see if anyone is selling anything similar on ebay
Here is one selling in the UK
sd.kfz232 armoured radio car (but they are selling 4 in the lot)http://cgi.ebay.com/4-x-matchbox-model-k.
Can't find the morris anywhere.
This is the closest I could get
http://cgi.ebay.com/revell-matchbox-morr.
and the Renault
http://cgi.ebay.com/revell-matchbox-char.
My only other suggestion beyond watching these auctions to see what they sell for is to take them to a collector or hobbyist to see what they think. There are also toy magazines and books that are published about this time of year that give good ideas on what current collector prices are.
A few titles of books to get you started
