How do I best clean my car canvas soft top? It has mould growing on it and I don't want to damage it?
Answers:
If it's mouldy you need to clean off the mould with a soft soap solution - NOT washing up liquid and similar - using a nail brush and then rinse it with clean water and let it dry. Then clean it again with a specific hood cleaner.
Halfords do a range of 'Cabriolet' hood cleaners and reproofers.
I use Autoglym which seems to work well and comes in a double pack for clean and reproof.

I like to use WD40 to clean alot of things and it actually cleans stuff really well
Use a mild cleansing agent on top of the car grab a bucket and something to wipe the bacteria agent of and wipe it! You nimrod!
Most auto parts stores sell a cleaner made for cleaning and conditioning these tops. McGuire's makes a top cleaner/conditioner that works really well. Hope this helps.

i would use jif (cif) it is a realy good cleaner for most things and if you give it a try you'll know why!

I had a similar problem on my camper trailer, which had a canavas pull out, i used 1 part bleach to 8 parts water and a good stiff brush to kill the mold spores, and the bleach will help take the stain out, if its any other colour than white, use colour safe bleach and test on a small spot first. After done scrubbing, rinse the whole top and car to remove any traces of bleach.
you can buy a fabric hood cleaner,after you have cleaned it apply hood protecter..iam a valeter for porsche.any porsche centre will supply with the best products,and it realy is the best.good luck.
Clean with soap and water then dry it of, then polish it with black boot polish and shine like a pair of shoes.
