The Mini....

WHO agree's with me that the New Mini is just plain Awful, No way near as good as the PROPER Mini.. yes, it might be safer and more modern. but it will NEVER be a LEGEND like the Proper one is..... the Proper Mini is BRITISH through and through.).. not german.

Answers:
The original is always the best. Look at the Italian job
worst car ever
i agree, new mini is crap
Here here - I think the bmw mini should have been given a different name. It is just not the same car - remember the original ones with the string to open the doors?
Agreed, no doubt.
I think the new mini is really nice and I am thinking about going to buy one soon.
take one for a drive and you'll disagree. its like a really fast go-kart! handles like a dream.
right on the money there mate

new mini always seems to be driven by absolute ponces in shades even though its cloudy

hahaha- just saw the dude who answered above me- "spyderman" with his avatar wearing shades.. haha- like I said, absolute ponces..
I sat in a new mini for the first time the other week, and was VERY disapointed.it was terrible..and it's not even THAT mini!

It's funny when you see the old ones just how small they are compared to modern cars.

I love the old mini, It's a car I've always wanted but never got round to owning.
Looks like an Italian job.
I have NEVER liked the new Mini.

The original Mini will always be close to my heart. I used to drive one of the original Mini's, and my male colleagues would always fight over who got to move it in the car park, to let someone else out. I would leave my car keys on my desk, and they would disappear at lunchtimes - one of my colleagues would have taken them, to unlock one of the doors, so they could sit inside and remember all the fun they had in their youth driving a Mini.

Who here loves the original version of 'The Italian Job'? A classic film.
its lost its charm they call it a mini but it is huge
The bmw mini was designed by rover they just kept it when they sold rover on and added some really good touches.
the best is the successor to the old Mini, the MG Metro. Now, that CAN handle.
I admire what BMW / Rover (as was back in 2000) achieved with the new one.
It could never have been the same as the original, as the design brief was much different.

Had they had a similar design brief to the original, they would have ended up with something more like the Toyota Aygo, which could not have been produced profitably in the UK. Therefore they decided to latch on to the Cooper as the key product, and produce a sportier, premium product that they could price higher, and so produce profitably in the UK. That this also fits well with BMW's image / products was another advantage.

However, I don't actually like the car. It looks good on the outside, and I believe it is good to drive, but its too much of a cartoon, and the interior is too Fisher-Price for my liking. Its a toy that can be used as a car. I want a proper car, with a proper interior - that's why I've got a Mégane.
I aggree! The new Mini's had to be souped up with loads of extras, while the older Mini's where just normal ones!
FACT ATTACK!
