I have just bought an r reg escort. The heater blowers dont work?
Answers:
check your fuses first if there good get a voltage tester and turn your heater on like you would and see if theres any power running to your blower motor if there is then you need to replace your blower motor and thats up to you if you want a brand new one which is alot of money or go to the auto-wreakers and get a used one that will be just *** good you can check out price for new blower motors but i think you will be going with a used one
If your heaters blow out cold my Brother always told me that that was bad news !! Not sure if he said something to do with the radiator ? That may be why they sold it to you. Always check these things first. You may be able to pop down Halfords or somewhere and get something to bung somewhere ???
You can buy another escort of that age for the price of a new unit and the labour costs and then use the current one for spares. This time, make sure everything works by turning things on one-by one to check them.
my car is doing that now. check your water for the radiater. i keep having to fill mine up. if you check the tubes from the water holder to the radiater and try to find the leak. you can pick up the pipes in halfords quite cheaply and are reasonably easy to fit. do this when the engine is cold or youll burn yourself. you will also probaly need to fill up on anti-freeze aswell, if you dont have this you could cause yourself bigger problems.
hope all goes well
Yes it is difficult but not impossible , get yourself an workshop manual its not beond a normally intelligent person to change it , but it is fiddly if you are easily frustrated leave alone
remove the glove compartment and look behind it to the right, you will see a 2" by 3" panel with a multiplug in. one self tapper hold this panel, it is the fan resistor block, a common failure on all cars give it to someone with a multimeter it takes seconds to check and only cheep to replace.
