I have to let my car warm up before i can drive off?
Answers:
possibly coolant temperature sensor, it tells the car how hot/cold the engine is and mixture adjusts accordingly.
It is always best to let it idle for a minute or two before driving
service the trans
Carburetor needs tuning.
I had a really old car that took 5 minutes to warm up before I could drive it, or else it would stall. It was annoying, but what can you do?
Take it in for service.
TRY ADDING TRANSMISSION OIL.IF YOU ARE NOT SURE WHERE TO PUT IT ,GO TO ANY PLACE THAT OFFERS OIL CHANGE SERVICES.
I'm going to assume you mean that you have no engine power to pull away until the engine has warmed up? Sounds like the automatic choke function or the air inlet warm up valve could be faulty.
Most cars when they start from cold have a diverter valve in the air inlet that draws air from accross the exhaust manifold to warm it before entering the engine.
It feels like having a chat with you first. Try a little chitchat, and I reckon it will rev quicker and faster: that's what I did with my car and it revved up and went faster!
I agree with chunky. It is the coolant temperature sensor. I had the same problem with one of my old cars. Once we changed the sensor, she started right up.
its an electric choke on a Mondeo you may need to get a garage to take a look at it.
at least until the auto choke cancel its self out
it sounds like a fault with the cold start device (modern choke) it may be caused by an engine coolant temperature sensor or if it is struggling to idle it may be a choked idle control valve which is a common zetec fault but i would start with the above
Take it to a mechanic.
if its a zetec engine you might have the wrong oil in this is usually the case get some 10/40 castrol gtx its not cheap at £30 but its made for modern cars. zetecs have ultra tight seals on lifters so when cold can cause ticking over problems
